Install ClipGrab Youtube Downloader & Converter in Ubuntu 13.04

ClipGrab is a free software for downloading and converting online videos from YouTube. It allows to search videos on YouTube and click on the results to download HD videos or convert to MPEG4, WMV, OGG Theora, MP3 (audio only), OGG Vorbis (audio only).


ClipGrab isn’t limited to the YouTube, it also can download from the following sites: Clipfish, Collegehumor, Dailymotion, MyVideo, MySpass, Sevenload, Tudou, Vimeo. Except YouTube, you need the link to the video you want to download.


Install ClipGrab in Ubuntu:

ClipGrab has a ppa repository which supports Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal, 12.04 Precise, 11.10 Oneiric, 11.04 Natty, and 10.04 Lucid. Hit Ctrl+Alt+T to open terminal, then run following 3 commands one by one to install it:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:clipgrab-team/ppa

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install clipgrab

Before the ppa updated for the Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, you can click this link to download the non-install version from the official site. It’s a .bz2 package contains ClipGrab executable.

Then extract the file, make it executable in Properties window. Finally double-click to start the program:
